IQRF

The finals of the IQRF Summit, 2017, featured the five best competitive projects. Both students and the public could compete. Both students of secondary high schools and university students met at the final contest. Thanks to the interconnection of the world of schools and the world of practice, the experience is intertwined. Younger students can draw inspiration from their older and more experienced rivals and can build valuable partnerships with other institutions.

Competition tasks were announced very generally in order not to limit the creativity of the contestants. The only condition was to use the IQRF wireless technology in the project.

The winners took world prizes from IoT, as wirelessly controlled power sockets (Netio products), combined sensor CO2/T/RH (Protronix), development IQRF kit (MICRORISC), voucher for Microsoft Azure and a development board vývojovou desku UP2 (AAEON).

Winning projects

1. place

Jan Velička: Training and presentation module for measuring CO2 concentration through IQRF

2. place

Jiří Škovránek: Design and implementation of security equipment using Raspberry PI and IQRF technology

3. place

Roman Ondráček: Remote control of home appliances by mobile phone

Projects

Training and presentation module for measuring CO2 concentration through IQRF

Jan Velička (VŠB-TU Ostrava)

The proposed training module serves as a teaching and demonstration tool for teaching measurement systems for the measurement of environmental variables. The learning module is fitted with a Figaro CDM7160 carbon dioxide sensor. The sensor is calibrated by the manufacturer and is of the NDIR type. The measured CO2 concentration is in ppm. Another measured quantity is the temperature measured by the Microchip MCP9802. The entire module is designed to fit into the development chain (DDC) through its dimensions and connectivity, as an extension of the development suite portfolio from Microrisc, s.r.o.

Design and implementation of security equipment using Raspberry PI and IQRF technology

Bc. Jiří Škovránek (VŠB-TU Ostrava)

It is a comprehensive system for security technology. The whole implementation runs on the Raspberry PI and IQRF technology, which ensures wireless communication between the modules. Three wireless modules and one switchboard are designed. The system is subject to low consumption requirements, small module dimensions, a reliability of communication, ease of operation and low cost. The input detection module serves primarily to indicate open and closed states (door, window). The terminal module is used to get an overview of the set-up and to confirm the possible alarms. The alarm module is used to startle the person. All designed modules have protection against unauthorized manipulation. The whole system can be controlled from web visualization.

Remote control of home appliances by mobile phone

Roman Ondráček (Gymnázium Boskovice)

A smart socket is designed and built in the project, it can switch the resistive load up to 10 A. As a gateway between the IQRF network and the GSM network or the Internet, the Raspberry Pi single computer is used. The rpi-gw software is used to communicate with the GSM network, which is written in the Python 3 scripting language. The iqrf-daemon software is used for Internet communication.
